Privacy Policy
Plain language. We keep what we collect to a minimum, and we never sell it.
1. Who we are
WinePerson provides a foundational wine-literacy assessment — "WinePerson Level 1." This Privacy Policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. WinePerson Level 1 is a private learning record, not a professional certification.
2. This website (www.wineperson.com)
The pages you're reading are a marketing site. We don't run advertising trackers, we don't sell your information, and we don't ask you to fill in any forms here. The only third-party measurement on this site is Google Analytics 4 (described below). Standard web-server logs (such as IP address and the page requested) may be retained briefly by our hosting provider for security and reliability; we don't use them to identify you.
3. Analytics & cookies
This site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people read and how the site performs. GA4 collects aggregated, pseudonymous usage information — page views, approximate session duration, broad geography, device and browser type. Google does not store IP addresses in their full form in GA4, and we do not link analytics data to advertising profiles or run any third-party advertising or behavioural-targeting scripts on the site.
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies on this domain so it can recognise returning visits and compute basic engagement metrics. We do not set any other tracking cookies of our own.
You can opt out of being measured by Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by enabling your browser's tracking-prevention or content-blocking features, or by using a privacy-focused browser extension.
4. When you take WinePerson Level 1
The assessment itself requires an account so we can save your progress and your result. When you sign up and take it, we collect and store:
- Account details — the email address and name you provide to create your account.
- Assessment activity — your attempt: which questions you were shown, the answers you selected, your score, and the timestamps of your attempt.
- Earned status — if you pass, a record that you earned WinePerson Level 1, with the date and the curriculum version.
We use this only to run the assessment, show you your result and where to study, and let you hold and revisit your earned status.
5. What we don't do
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your information.
- We don't run advertising trackers or behavioural-targeting scripts.
- We don't publish a public profile or a directory of people. Your earned status is private to your account by default.
- We don't run a marketplace, a social network, or a mailbox/forwarding service.
- We don't show your individual answers or score history to anyone else.
6. Where your information lives
Account and assessment data are stored on systems operated by WinePerson within the Aegis platform. Access is limited to what's needed to operate the assessment and support you. We apply reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it; no system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.
7. Your choices
- Access & correction — you can ask what we hold about you and have inaccuracies corrected.
- Deletion — you can ask us to delete your account and associated assessment data.
- Analytics opt-out — you can opt out of Google Analytics with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on, by enabling your browser's tracking-prevention features, or by using a privacy-focused browser extension.
- Marketing — we don't send marketing email from this site; if that ever changes, it will be opt-in and you can unsubscribe at any time.
8. Children
WinePerson is intended for adults of legal drinking age. It is not directed to children, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
9. Changes to this policy
If we update this policy, we'll revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes that affect how we handle your information will be made clear.
